About the Collaborative
100 percent volunteer run, 100 percent here for nonprofits
Our Mission
Our mission is to help nonprofits in Greater Des Moines accomplish theirs.
Our Collaborative Philosophy
The Collaborative is just that, collaborative. We are facilitating an environment where nonprofits come together, celebrate their wins, share, learn, and just generally support each other.
We are creating a flexible framework where participating nonprofits help shape the Collaborative. If members see a need that would benefit the greater nonprofit community, we want the Collaborative to be able to adapt to meet those needs when possible.
We are 100% volunteer run and we are always looking for new teammates. There are opportunities for individuals or organizations to get involved. If you want to help our nonprofit community, there’s a seat for you at the table.
Our Core Functions
- Collaborate – The nonprofit is formed and directed by the nonprofits taking part. Members can utilize “The Collaborator” monthly newsletter as a simple way for members to share information with each other. When host group meetings, social get-togethers, and community cleanups. These serve as opportunities for members to socialize with each other and collaborate in a personal way.
- Promote – The Collaborative offers a free online promotion system where members can submit their news and events. Approved articles are posted on this website and shared via the Des Moines Nonprofit Newsletter. Approved articles and events are also shared via our social media channels.
- Educate – Members can take part in our free individual skill share program and receive a one-hour consulting session from a specialist. Additionally, we host education and training sessions for Collaborators to use.
- Giveaways – Every little bit helps. These giveaways aren’t going to change the trajectory of a nonprofit or open up new program opportunities. They might make getting there a little easier though.
Des Commitment
We are committed to always keeping membership free for DSM nonprofits. We are 100% percent volunteer run, so any funds generated go directly to assisting and celebrating member organizations. We are committed to being non-burdensome on our members and participation is always completely voluntary. We understand our members are busy — they are welcome to be as active or inactive as they want.
Membership is Free
